| Teach
your beagle how to understand words & to relate them to
objects. |

I have been lucky enough to
own 2 wonderful Beagles and they both have been able
to teach me what it takes to get them to understand
the meaning of different things.
This article is about what I have found to be the best
way to teach your beagle how to understand words and
to relate them to different objects.
When I want Bailey to understand that his new toy duck
is called a “duck” I always refer to it as “duck”
I will make sure that the first week he has the duck
that I sit him down in front of me and show him the
toy and tell him “duck” while pointing to it. I will
do this many times a day until he knows that when he
hears the words “go get the" (which have been taught
before hand) and “duck” to go and get the duck for me.
After a few days or so he will understand that “duck”
means his toy duck.
The process seems to work very well. He knows to get
the duck even if he sees his goose and starts for it
he will stop and look around until he sees his duck.
I’ve also had success with this process with different
foods like mangos (yes he loves mangos lol)
Now after using that process when I say the word want
some fruit I get no response he just looks at me (well
I shouldn't say that because he knows "want some" lol)
but if I follow up and say want a “mango” his head snaps
around like “did he just say mango!” and he starts to
howl lol.
Give the process a try and see how it works for your
beagle. Beagle Training
can be tough at times but if you are persistant you
will have great results!
Remember.
Repeatedly use the word that relates to the object that
you want him/her to recognize by word.
Make sure you show them the object during training so
they will relate the word to the object you show them.
