Beagles love to be active. They
will participate in any activity and need a lot of exercise.
They have a problem keeping off the weight . Daily activity
will keep them in shape.
Beagles love to run and chase
after balls and toys. They can easily be taught to bring
it back if you use consistent commands. They also like
to tease and will run up to you with the toy and then
run off so you will chase them. Patience and repeating
the command you chose to teach them will work if you
keep at it. As I stated above, beagles love to chase
and evade. A fun game is to run up to them and they
run away. Then they come back to chase you. Soon you
will end up toppled one over the other with hugs and
kisses.
Beagles love to hike and explore
new places. When they see you put on your shoes they
will already be waiting at the door to go. They will
hardly be able to contain themselves until you get the
leash on. A good brisk walk will problbly not happen.
Beagles have to sniff everything. Although, you may
get running if your beagle gets a scent. Whoa, puppy
is a good command to teach!
Tug-of-war is probably one of
the beagles favorite games. A "blankie" or tied-up rope
or piece of material is just the thing to get your beagle
bringing it to you for a heated tug-of-war match. You
take one end and your beagle will gladly grab the other
end and tug and tug. Teach him to Give and throw the
toy. He will run after it and bring it back for another
round.
Beagles are very adaptable
and want to be involved in everything you do. They are
always underfoot, curious and wanting to learn. Involve
them in all your activities and they will bring you
great companionship and joy.
